I’ve made some real progress on the still life this past week! See below a picture of where I left off last time, compared to where I’m at now:
I’m super proud of how this is looking! I managed to work out the background and ended up with a really nice, clean line and a very rich hue for the blue colour. I also lightened up the apple a bit, so now it’s a more realistic light green. And I added a couple more layers to the lemon. Also, I refined the shape of the tomato. Overall I think the colours of the painting work well together! As you can see, the highlights and lowlights I added to the jug really made a big difference. I was planning on doing more work on that part but now I think I’ll actually just leave it as is.
I’m on track to finish this piece this week, which is exciting! I just need to finish some of the details on the apple and lemon, work out the colouring on the tomato, and add some shadows beneath the fruit.
